INTERSHOP Opens Latin American, Asian Offices |
International Data Corp. estimates Singapore's rising IT demand to surpass $4.5 billion by 2002. According to a statement by Singapore Home Minister Ho Peng Kee, the Singapore e-commerce market is expected to grow to $833 million by 2001, INTERSHOP said, adding that Latin America is another hot growth market.
"Both the Latin American and Asian electronic commerce markets provide tremendous opportunity for INTERSHOP," said Ragnar Kruse, INTERSHOP's vice president of international sales. "We chose Singapore and Brazil, because both are prime technology hubs in their respective regions with a high density of Internet connections."
INTERSHOP's Singapore office will be located in Tower One of Singapore's Suntec City, and will be headed by Darryl McKinnon, formerly senior product specialist with INTERSHOP Australia.
The Brazilian office will be located in Sao Paulo, Brazil's political and IT
capital, and will be headed by Emerson Calegaretti, previously with
INTERSHOP's Latin American distributor, Perrotti Informatica.
